FredagsBirken ski become Skating Birken and Tour Birken ski (translated press release from Birken AS)
FredagsBirken ski changes name to Skating Birken og Tour Birken ski. The concept is the same, but we wish to purify the two concepts separately.

The Skating Birken becomes it´s own arrangement with 1o year classes (intervals) for both women and men with prizes to the three best in each class and money prizes to the three best men and women totally.

The Tour Birken ski of 54 km is still meant to appeal to the ones that wishes to perform the nice tour over the mountains from Rena to Lillehammer – either alone or together with others that do not want to focus on competing. In the Tour Birken you can choose the technique yourself – the track over the mountain is wide and ince with classical tracks on one side. There is good place for everyone!

Both the Skating Birken og Tour Birken ski follows the same track as the main Birkebeiner race from Rena to Lillehammer. You can choose starting time yourself when you sign up and it is optional if you want to be timed.

All the participants must carry a back pack and the race is part of the triple as the Birkebeiner of the year unranked. Everyone that is 16 years of age pr 31.12.19 can take part.

The previous HalvBirken ski (Short Birken) become Tour Birken ski with start at Kvarstad
The HalvBirken ski changes profile and follows the Birkebeinerrennet track with start at Kvarstad and finish at Birkebeineren Ski stadium, Lillehammer. Tour Birken 27 km is set to friday 15th. march together with Tour Birken 54 km, formerly FredagsBirken ski (Friday Birken sk).

The TurBirken (Tour Birken) 27 km suits best for you who thinks 54 km is a little bit too far and that wishes to go the historical tracks of the real Birkebeiners.

Sports Manager Sølvi Amundsen Aas has led the project development of the Birken Ski festival. -By introducing TurBirken 54 and 27 km we want first of all to reach participants who loves skiing and who have less focus on the result. It is the legendary Birkebeinerløypa that is our venue and with the start at Kvarstad for those who want to go half-distance, everyone gets the opportunity to call themselves real Birkebeinere, says Sølvi.

-We want to give those who skate greater attention and focus by purifying SkøyteBirken (the Skating Birken) as their own event on Friday with their own age classes and prizes, she adds.

-The most important thing is the tour across the mountain that gives a wonderful experience!
