This is me

IMG_0389Hi there! I´m a 41 year old norwegian and started training / working out actively about ten years ago when I moved home to my hometown Trondheim.  I was mainly interested and motivated only by the joy of skiing and staying outdoors. The sparkling sun, blue sky and a firm on the snow under my skis.

After a while I joined an amateur competition – in skating. I definitively did not win.And I was only one of two out of about 80 participants who didn´t wear a racing suit. I think the other one was an elderly woman…

Still, the curiosity and spark for participating in this kind of informal cross country races was lit. A starting number on your chest and someone cheering you along the way do something about you.

At this time, I have finished the Birkebeiner cross country marathon four times, and the traning intensity increases a little year by year.     I´ve also participated in the Skienern,  Storlirennet, Marka Rundt og Markatrimmen in Trondheim. I still haven´t made any podium appearances or stood out from the big crowd – but I admit I have a hope to do so. And that´s the background for this blog/community (continued below images).

During my work-outs a lot of new questions pop up in my head. They could be about waxing, rollerskiing, the physcal aspect, clothing, equipment and so on. A lot of these questions I have found the answe to myself, but others have indeed also helped me.  But what     I´m constantly reminded of is that the answers who are right for world class competitors aren´t necessarily the right answers for me. Or you. We don´t necessarily need to purchase new skis to achieve a 20 grams weight reduction or skiing technique like Marit Bjorgen.

That´s why I made this community. My goal is to facilitate sharing of knowledge and all sorts of experiences between active amateur cross country skiers (competitors and non-competitors). I truly hope and believe that this is a just as good alternative for those who can´t afford their own wax-trailer or mental coach. I believe that personal engagement, sharing and curiosity among true amateurs is what is best for true amateurs.

I hope you feel the same.
